Admission Process

About KIMC

The Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC) was established in 1961 and was named as the then Voice of Kenya Training School.

Its main purpose was to train electronic engineering and technicians for the then, Kenya Broadcasting Service (KBS), that was later rebranded in 1962 as the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC). KBC was then nationalized in 1964, and changed its brand to Voice of Kenya (VOK).

General Academic Information on admissions
Intakes are once per year in the month of September.

Application Procedure

Courses are advertised in the daily newspapers in the month of June. The students apply, then short listing and selection is done by August and students report for studies in September.

All applications must be accompanied with copies of relevant certificates, national Identity Card.

Entry Requirements for Diploma Courses

For KIMC examined diplomas a minimum of Grade C plain attained at the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) or equivalent is required. In addition, prospective applicants are expected to meet specific requirements for each of the courses offered.

For Kenya National Exanimation Council (KNEC) examined diploma a minimum of Grade C minus attained at the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) or equivalent is required. In addition, prospective applicants are expected to meet specific requirements for each of the courses as may be specified from time to time by the examining body.
